Mea CulpaEditor's note to any artistically sensitive viewers out there: Please remember that if you had to write some software for a project like this, it might look pretty scary too! Seriously, I know this is a little rough. Lots of this stuff is just placeholders as I try to get time to thrash this together. Anybody who wants to make snide and useless comments, please do so behind my back. If you actually have ideas about colors and layout and other things like that, let me know! |
John's Journal
Day Fourmileage- ZERO! I actually rode in a car today. route- in Albuquerque I was able to sleep in a bit this morning, awaking to the sounds of fresh coffee being ground, and my sister asking me what I would like for breakfast. Ahh, I could stay for a while, oh, yeah, right, I can't. I have places to go, people to see! New Orleans is coming up very soon and if my other friends get there before me, that means I will be missing something and I HATE missing things. Luckily for me, my sister and nephew had the day off, as it turns out. The school system had allocated a couple of snow days and didn't use them, so today was a holiday. I like to think of it as "John's Road Trip Day" but somehow I don't think the City of Albuquerque held the same views. Unfortunately, though, someone had to work and my brother-in-law, Paul, was the one chosen. So, we ran some errands, had a nice lunch, and just had a great time talking to each other. I love spending "normal" time with family and friends just doing what they do. It is a chance to see some of the environment they work and play in. We did manage to all meet up at the movie theatre for a matinee. There is nothing like seeing a movie on a nice, sunny day during the week when many others are all working (Sorry to rub it in. I can already see that I will forget that others have jobs after a while on the road). I really must teach my nephew, Ben a few things about respecting his elders, though. He needs to know that I should win a few games once in a while. Actually, my sister and brother-in-law could use that lesson, too. In other words, I lost all night long at Monopoly and Gin Rummy. Well, I have felt a bit more urgency for New Orleans, so I am planning on an early arrival, so more tomorrow. By the way, I hope some of this is actually interesting. Since I can't (or more correctly don't want to) RECEIVE e-mail on the trip, I can't get any feedback. Hmmm, that can be good and bad. I hope to check out the progress, however, soon.
